Factors to Consider for Promotional Pen Hand Outs

Sure, you can hand out promotional pens anytime. But if you really want to use them as a marketing tool, you need to take several factors into consideration.

Event
Your first and foremost concern when choosing which events you should hand out promotional pens is the expected turnout. It would simply be a waste of your time, money, and effort if you grace events that people are not interested of attending.

Events with generally high turnouts are holiday celebrations in public areas like parks, malls, and churches. Concerts, charity auctions, and sport events are also sure to have high attendance rates. Of course, not all of these would allow you to simply start handing out promotional pens without their permission. In some cases, you may have to submit your application as a sponsor of the event before you can start handing out those pens.

People
Consider the type of people attending. The best events are those with participants or audience that perfectly match your target market. If, for instance, your business caters to those in their retirement age, you should become more involved with events or activities that appeal to that particular clientele.

Venue or Location
There are two ways to look at this. Firstly, if you are planning to hand out pens even when there is no major event taking place then you need to find a place that always welcomes high volumes of people.

Again, malls are the best place for handing out promotional pens but don’t expect everyone you encounter to be interested. That’s simply the price you have to pay since malls are open to people from all walks of living.

Now, if you are intent on giving away promotional pens during a specific event then you need to have either your booth or representatives strategically located. If possible, look for a location that’s slightly elevated – this will allow people to spot your booth even from afar.

If you have employed marketing representatives to hand out your promotional pens, consider dividing the area into sections to ensure that they don’t come across the same set of individuals.

Quantities
It would be a shame if you run out of promotional pens to give away just when you have a lot of people interested in what you’re offering. Try using a generalized design for your promotional pens. That way, you can hand them out whenever and wherever you may be.

Handing out promotional pens may be a mass-oriented approach to marketing, but with a few adjustments, you can ensure that they become tailor made for your business.
